Holiday Season Tips!
With the holidays just around the corner, we all will inevitably be attending their associated parties. Whether it be an office holiday party, a family gathering, or reunion of old classmates, food and drinks ‘a plenty’ will be served. Here are a few suggestions to make sure you keep with the holiday cheer while also
1) Cheese Please. Besides making a beautiful spread, cheese has the natural ability to return the mouth to its natural acidic-basic balance and thus the normal oral bacterial flora. This environment reduces the chances of developing tooth decay and inflamed gums.
2) Use a Bottle Opener. Although it may be an impressive (yet scary) party trick, opening bottles with your teeth is a big no-no! Despite the inherent strength of teeth, flexing and applying intense pressure to teeth can cause micro-fractures in teeth, which inevitable lead to larger fractures in the future.
3) Don’t ditch the routine. Between finishing off work before year-end and rushing to holiday parties, it is easy to forget common oral hygiene practices at home. Brushing and flossing are especially important during this time of eggnog, candy cane, cider, and pudding consumption. Rinsing and hydrating with water, using an alcohol-free mouth wash, and brushing your tongue are other tips to use.
The staff and doctors at Lee Dental Associates would like to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season, and best wishes for 2016!
