Surgical Root Canal/Apicoectomy

Generally, a root canal is all that is needed to save teeth with an injured pulp from extraction. Occasionally, this non-surgical procedure will not be sufficient to heal the tooth and an apicoectomy would be required to stop the infection. In this procedure, the tooth will be sealed from infection from the root end of the tooth, instead of the crown portion during a typically root canal. The root area will be cleaned and a filling will be placed. In our practice at Yonge & Lawrence, this treatment is provided to prevent recurring pain and infection.
